Royal Hobart Show 2009
May 26
th

Good afternoon all
Today in the post I received the latest Minutes of the
Alpaca Committee
for the
Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania Hobart Show
.
Unfortunately, I could not myself attend the last meeting having a prior appointment.
However, I am very pleased to let everyone know that a nationally and internationally accredited judge has offered now to judge the show in October 2009.
A wonderful atmosphere of congeniality occurred at the 2008 show at which both AABA members and AAA members presented animals for judging. All Tasmanian alpaca breeders are welcome at the Show and we invite mainland breeders to also come to Tasmania in the Spring, participate in the Show, and have a holiday in the spectacular scenery of Tasmania.
General details on the Show can be found at:
http://www.hobartshowground.com.au/rhs/index.html
where entry forms for the alpaca section will appear late in July or early August.

Hi All,
Talking about shows in Tassie, I hope AABA will have the Ulverstone Show again in November, 2009. I am happy to assist and be the convenor for the alpaca show. Just let me know.

Good morning All
I am pleased to let friends know that I had the spinal operation (L4-S1) on the 5th May at North Shore Hospital (if you need a good neurosurgeon let me know) and tonight is the 7th week anniversary. The recuperation, although tedious, has gone well and the pain levels are rapidly reducing now. I hope to be back to my usual self by 12 weeks.
Although I have sold my whole alpaca herd because of the back problems, and the sale of our delightful small farm at Leslie Vale will complete on the 5th July, I have decided to stay on the Alpaca Show Committee for the Royal Hobart Show, and I am going to continue my membership of AABA. AABA is an association that has the right focus on the animals and people with an open attitude of inclusiveness. This much involvement in the industry will keep my interest going and allow me to meet up with the many friends I have made in the industry over 9+ years.
My best wishes to all
Raymond

Hi Raymond and All,
Firstly Raymond it is wonderful news that you have come through your operation and that you are well on your way to a good recovery. Also it is fabulous that you have decided to remain in the alpaca family and especially with the AABA and the Hobart Show Committee. I wish you a very speedy recovery.
For those who would like to enter into the 2010 Hobart Show - Maree Hamming ( an AABA committee member) is the Convenor and can be contacted on (03) 62 48 8522 for any further details. Maree and her team are working very hard to ensure that this year's show is going to be very special and well worth entering.
More details will be placed on this website as they become available. So watch this space.
Cheers
Janet Sutherland

Hello Raymond,
Congratulations on your 7th anniversary - hope the 8th is shaping up to be right on target re that 12th week. In terms of your continuing interest in AABA, I agree wholeheartedly with Janet. It is great news to those of us who have followed your postings, integrity and commitment to the alpaca industry through the years.
