Hi all,
I have for sale, an alpaca crush / shearing table with a head bale.
The device was developed and produced as part of a university engineering project and was displayed at the national alpaca show in Bendigo in 2005.
It has been designed to enable a
single person to carry out all husbandry activities with minimal effort and stress to the animal.
Once the alpaca is restrained using the “squeeze” pad, the table is rotated to the horizontal position leaving the alpaca’s feet exposed for toenail trimming etc.
From this position, legs can be tied and the head restrained. The “squeeze” pad is then lifted off with gas struts. Fibre sampling, shearing etc can be carried out from this position.
The process is then reversed and the animal released through the front gate.
The head bail enables the head to be restrained for tooth cutting etc.
The crush / table was originally designed to be used with alpaca yards but could be used as a stand alone device.
As this is the second prototype that was build, some minor modifications, additions may be required.
